I am honored to present to you...the Fully 3D Printed Compass Scribing Tool.
The model is...
- small and quick to print (10g of filament)
- multi-purpose
- open source
- easy to print
- minimal supports
- compatible with toothpick
The concept of the 3D model is quite simple; it is only 4 parts. The thread and nut simply holds the grips (via the pencil and toothpick) together. One challenge was testing the tolerances; it took a few iterations to make the toothpick & pencil slide in and out with ease.
I was inspired to create this model for the contest "Contour Duplication Tools" running on printables (3D model database).

This model was created early June of 2024.
Note: In this model, I primarily worked on familiarizing myself with the tools of Fusion 360. At the time of this model's creation, Fusion 360 was a very novel tool for me to use.
